All about us, where we came from, where we are and where we're going

I grew up delighting in the treats that magically made their way out of my Grandparents oven. My Grandpa, a baker to trade, always had something in or fresh out of the oven. Scones, coffee buns, fruit cake or his mince pies at Christmas all were family favourites, all freshly baked and all absolutely delicious! Visitors to my Gran and Granpda’s house were always told ‘get away ben the hoose’ where they’d be showered with hot cups of tea and whatever baked treats they were tempted by. My mum inherited Grandpa’s ‘bakers hands’ and so within our household, homebaking reigned triumphant! I loved nothing more than the smell of freshly baked scones or fairy cakes filling the house. Somewhere along the line I got the baking bug and discovered a passion for traditional homebaking.

Ben The Hoose was grown out of my love for baking and all that it represents – warmth, family, celebration and love. Named after my Grandparents, my aspiration is to keep alive our family tradition of simple and delicious bakes that enhance everyday life and those memorable celebrations.
